We are a welcoming and thriving chess club, based in the heart of the market town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch. We currently have over 30 active members, including several lady members.
We are open to people of all ages, sexes and abilities, from beginner to Grandmaster. Not that we have any Grandmasters !! We meet on Thursday evenings, from 19:30 onwards, at the Ivanhoe Social Club in Wilfrid Place.
We are affiliated to the Leicestershire & Rutland Chess Association, the Midland Counties Chess Union and the English Chess Federation.
We run 5 teams in the Leicestershire League and also run various internal competitions. However, it is not all about competitive chess. If you just want to come along for a friendly game, a chat and a drink, you are more than welcome. Several of our Members come along just for the social side and there is no pressure to do any more than that if you don't want to.
