There was an upset in the Club Championship last night when Les Fancourt beat Patrick Buckley in their 5th round match, to draw level with both Patrick and Paul Gibson, with all 3 players level on 4 points. Following a discussion with Tom Gerrard, the Tournament Controller, it was agreed that the Championship would be shared between all 3 players. It was a disappointing night for Patrick as he only needed a draw to win the Championship outright. There was one other 5th round match played, with Mick Brown beating Jan Oldham. Although the remaining 5th round matches have no bearing on the Championship, they still all need to be played for rating purposes.
In the U1450 Championship 1st Round, Neil Roberts beat Ric Dawson, Paul Mayer beat Brian Wood and Colin Marley drew with Peter Anderton.
